Scotland - Introducing the regional co-ordinator
Mikey Bateman
Mikey is practice manager at Aberdeen-based Fergus & Glover where he has put to good use his degree in Business Computing and his technology and business change consultancy background. Since joining the all private practice over three years ago there have been dramatic changes in both location and ethos culminating in awards for Best Team Scotland and Best Practice Scotland at the Dentistry Awards 2007.
Mikey joined the BDPMA to meet other members of the profession. He hopes to raise the BDPMA's profile in Scotland and to engage the membership to attract events to the region. He believes the BDPMA is there to support the profession and to raise the status of the role in the ever-changing dental environment.
He is really looking forward to meeting other Scottish members to share experiences and to learn from one another. In his spare moments he enjoys the company of his Dalmatian, spending quality time with friends and the odd visit to the gym.

Jill Taylor
Jill joined Botanics Dental Care in Glasgow in May 1997 when it was known as John Whyte Dental Practice. She worked as a Senior Dental Nurse until March 2008 when current Practice Principal, Dr Colin Gardner, purchased the practice.
Her duties were extended to cover the role of Practice Manager. Due to the limited availability of educational and support networks in Scotland, Jill decided to join the BDPMA and attend its regular seminars in England with the full support of Colin. Jill's qualifications include: the National Certificate in Dental Nursing 1996, Implant Dental Nurse training 1998, Practice Managers qualification 2000, Certificate in Dental Radiography 2008.
Jill believes that the Practice Manager’s role is constantly evolving as many of us have a more in-depth involvement with the running of the business and employment issues. Jill also believes that with more members joining in Scotland, seminars will become financially viable north of the border. She believes that each and every member of the BDPMA stands to gain invaluable insight and knowledge from other members by attending the regular meetings and seminars. These provide the perfect opportunity to network with like-minded fellow professionals.
Jill enjoys relaxing with her husband Scott by taking long walks along the beach near to their home in the west of Scotland.
