  • Rita Zamora new BDPMA Honorary Vice-President. Rita Zamora, international consultant in social media marketing for dental professionals, has accepted the post of Honorary Vice-President with the BDPMA.   • National specifications for cleanliness and CQC registration. As part of the Health and Social Care Act 2008, Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration will require healthcare providers to comply with essential standards of quality and safety. This includes the need to protect those who may be at risk of exposure to infections.   • GDC consultation on ethical advertising. The GDC is clarifying its guidance on advertising and needs everyone’s views on its plans. The aim is to ensure that all information or publicity materials, such as flyers, websites or adverts about dental services, are legal, decent, honest and truthful. The consultation is available on the GDC’s website www.gdc-uk.org and is open to everyone. It will close on 1 October.
  • New CQC registration guidance issued. The Care Quality Commission has recently published guidance documents on its website giving an overview of the application process and outlining what primary dental care providers will be required to do, and when, in order to register.   • Job advertisement. Part Time Practice Manager required to work 3 days a week in busy Dental Practice in Abingdon OXFORD. Salary range will be between £18,000 to £24,000 pro-rata depending on age and experience, applicant must have a minimum of 1 to 2 years experience as a Practice Manager in a NHS environment. The General Dental Council is advising dental professionals working in Scotland to keep up to date with measures aimed at protecting vulnerable patients.
