Q X-ray protocol
Could you offer any advice on where to find information to produce a protocol for the safe use of X-ray equipment?
A
Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding producing a protocol for the safe use of X-ray equipment.
There are several options:
- If you search www.dpb.nhs.uk/archives/other/guidance.pdf you will be presented with a long document which covers everything you need to know. It is specifically for dental practitioners on the safe use of x-ray equipment.
- The Health Protection Agency site will also give you information www.hpa.org.uk/radiation/training/dental/index.htm
- The Dental Buying Group (DBG) provides a radiation protection service and will send you a file containing sample documents including local rules www.thedbg.co.uk and don’t forget that as a member of the BDPMA, you will receive discounts from DBG
- On April 1st 2005 the National Radiological Protection Board merged with the Health Protection Agency forming its new Radiation protection Division www.hpa.org/radiation .
